Performing Arts Series
Performing arts classes are technique based and allow students to grow and progress by learning specific skills each session and continually challenging them to reach their own potential.
Students will have the opportunity to perform during each semester.
...Music Theater Performance: Join us as we rehearse and perform "Seussical Jr.". This fun-filled musical will delight all audiences and everyone that registers will have a part; Auditions will be held the first day of class for lead roles! Your fantastic directors (Dana Schmidt, Shawn Clingman, Kelly Asuka, and Joy Potter) will be challenging you and helping you fine tune your acting, singing, and dancing skills to put on an amazing show for friends and family!
"Seussical Jr." is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI).

....Play Production: Have you ever wanted to help write, produce, and star in your own theater production? Here is your chance to take the sate and enjoy the limelight. Learn the ins and outs of character development, stage movement, and performance skills taught by degreed professionals. Students will choose the kind of show they would like to appear in, write their own characters, and perform for delighted audiences!
...Children's Choir: Students will focus on learning choral techniques and fundamental skills and will have performance opportunities throughout the semester. *minimum number of students required
...Group Piano: If you have always wanted to take piano lessons, now is your chance - this class allows you to learn piano with the support and encouragement of your classmates in a small group. Class size is limited so register early!
...Dance Combo: Dance classes will explore and introduce students to various genres including ballet, jazz, modern, and creative movement. Each class will focus on a variety of ways to discover and explore movement in an age appropriate setting and will include learning proper warm up techniques, basic dance terminology, center work with basic ballet and jazz steps/body directions, and movements across the floor. Short combinations will be presented to apply basic skills and steps learned (and to explore stage movement, choreography, and performance basics)
...Ballet, Jazz/Hip Hop, Tap, Middle Eastern, and Lyrical: Students will be exposed to the basic fundamentals of these dance genres. Classes will focus on specific technical skills required for advancement and will include learning proper warm up techniques, basic dance terminology, center work with basic ballet and jazz steps/body directions, and movements across the floor. Short combinations will be presented to apply basic skills and steps learned (and to explore stage movement, choreography, and performance basics). Students will be encouraged to perform at the end of each session.

...Modern Dance: This dance genre emphasizes the use of the floor for centering and grounding oneself in movement. Students will be introduced to a focus on the breath (inhale/exhale), which brings quality to one’s dance movement. Concepts of overcurve/undercurve, contraction/release, musicality and rhythm are explored. Class will also focus on proper alignment, musicality, and center work. This class will break down the movement and provide students with exercises that build strength, increase flexibility and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles.
...Creative Movement: Students will explore the elements of dance such as shape, space, time and spatial awareness to help develop locomotor (creeping, walking, jumping, leaping), non locomotor (stretch, bend, twist, shake), stability and balance skills. .This class is an enjoyable and fun way for students to develop their physical skills, channel their energy, and stimulate their imagination and creativity to allow them to express themselves through movement.
...Creative Ballet: Learn the basics of ballet while exploring the elements of dance such as shape, space, time, and spatial awareness. Introduction to ballet concepts will be introduced using classical music and imagery.
...Ballroom Dance: Kick up your heels and learn the basic dances of ballroom dance. Introduction to waltz, swing, samba, salsa, cha cha and even some country swing dance will be covered throughout the session. Sign up with a friend to have as a partner or we'll pair you up!
...Creative Play: Theater provides a great way for students to express their creativity using their imagination; this class will guide students to develop body and sensory awareness, personal creativity and interpersonal skills. Students will use role-playing and improvisation along with group problem solving to develop performance skills and cooperative learning skills.
...Rhythm of Life/Sounds of Music: Students will learn basics of rhythm (notation, technique, etc.) and
will practice by clapping, speaking, stomping, and singing in different rhythms. Use of group activities and games will be used along with discussion topics and instrument explorations.
...Speed, Symbols, Scales, and Musical Success: Students will explore different aspects of music such as tempo (speed), notes (symbols), and learning the notes of the staff (scales); once fundamental skills are mastered students will begin reading music as well as creating their own!

Visual Arts Series
All visual arts classes will stimulate and intrigue your child and are technique based rather than project oriented...the fun and learning is in the process more so than the "finished product". Each session a student will learn a specific technique that will encourage a well-rounded art student and help their skills to continually increase and grow. Students will work on various projects and create a portfolio based on specific skills and techniques.

...Beginning Watercolor: Students will explore the medium of watercolor paints. They will observe basic watercolor painting techniques (such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and dry-on-dry) and experiment with these techniques on different surfaces.students We will start each class by learning the basics – brush strokes, washes, color and design, then incorporate them into a finished painting.
...Mixed Media: Students will explore various mediums throughout the course of the session; from drawing, to painting, to 3D modeling, to working with clay....students will discover their own creativity and expression through an array of medium studies.
...Drawing: Learn how to draw using lines, shapes and texture. We will be going on a texture hunt, we will learn how to see different lines in nature and draw some cartoons and recognize shapes.; older level students will also learn how to draw using lines, shapes and texture but will also create our ultimate room by using one-point perspective. We will learn how to create textures by drawing animals and shapes by dabbling with cartoons.
...Color Theory/All the Colors: A beginning course in basic color theory.
...Paper and Collage: Try something new in your artwork....this class will use cut, torn, and folded paper to create collage and other forms of paper art.
...Creating Cartoon Art and Comic Books: Students will explore the art of cartooning by creating shapes, characters, and figures with a "cartoon" feel. Students will learn a wide variety of skills in each class, with subjects ranging from character design to storyboarding to creating their own mini-comics. All students will complete a fun cartoon project.
...Beginning Painting: Students will learn the fundamentals of painting. Lessons will include color theory and basic techniques such as layering and highlighting. Students will learn to break down objects to simple forms then build in details. This class will provide the knowledge and confidence to tackle painting; learning will take place through use of demonstrations, guidance, and class exercises.
...Sewing and Design: Have you ever wanted to redecorate your room? Make your own clothes? Learn how to do these and many other things. Each week students will learn a new design element of skill. Color theory, clothing design, sewing, cross-stitch, faux finishes, room design, and blueprinting will be introduced. All projects will be worked on in class and some time outside of class may be required to finish projects.
...Art: Hands On Art: This hands-on class will explore art through the use of our hands and is perfect for kinesthetic and tactile learners. Sponging, finger painting, and hand mixing are just a few of the topics that will be 'touched' on!
...Art: Creative Buffet: Our youngest artists will enjoy this multi-media class; hands-on projects will allow the independent exploration of age-appropriate art materials: painting, gluing/cutting/collage, and working with clay/dough will allow students to explore art with a wide variety of materials and techniques.
....Parent and Tot Art: Join your youngster and discover art together. This class will incorporate a hands-on approach and use various mediums to explore and discover your own creativity and connection to your child...and making a mess is part of the fun!
...Studies in Impressionism: Learn how to break tradition like Monet in this 19th Century style of painting. Study the use of visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in its changing qualities, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles...just like Renoir, Degas, and Monet did.
...Modern Art and Pop Art: Take a new approach to art in this multi-media class. This class will place an emphasis on representing emotions, themes, and various abstractions. Experiment with new ways of seeing, with a fresh idea about the nature of materials and functions of art. Study from artists such as Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, and Edward Munch.
...Beginning Photography/Picture This: These classes are an introduction to digital photography. We will explore the basics of taking photographs such as composition, lighting, and subject matter and discover how they create meaning together. Technical camera skills will also be taught to help students "control" their cameras and make their photographs amazing! A portfolio of pictures will be created throughout the course. Students are encouraged to bring their own camera or they may borrow one of ours during the class time.
...Color the Rainbow: A multimedia art class for the littlest of artists
...Color the World: A beginning art class that explores drawing and painting with various mediums
...Color the Galaxy: A more advanced art class that goes deeper into drawing and painting with different media; also begins to open the doors into other subjects like kinds of art, art history, and color theory.
...Draw Me A Doodle/Picture/Masterpiece: Students will explore basic to advanced drawing techniques at an age-appropriate level; topics will focus on developing basic drawing skills to grow from a "just curious" state to a "focusing on small details" state; exploration, discovery, and creativity are encouraged!
...Found Sculptures: Students will make sculptures using everyday items...some consider it junk...we consider it ART!

Explore Series
The explore series takes students through a vast array of educational enrichment classes.
These classes are the "learning lab" of our organization. Through this series, students will be able
to increase their knowledge, gain new insights, learn new skills, and maintain grade-level competencies.
...Foreign Language: Students will learn various components of conversational Spanish, Chinese, and/or Japanese (separate classes); we will explore basic language and conversation, colors, and culture; see individual class flyers for more information
...Reading and Writing Japanese: If you have ever wanted to write Japanese but could not get it to look right this is the class for you. The key is proper stroke order. Students will learn to correctly write Japanese characters and will focus primarily on HIRAGANA and KATAKANA. If time allows, some KANJI (Chinese characters) will also be covered.
...Kitchen Khemistry: Bring your appetite and discover how much fun you can have in our "kitchen". Basic cooking techniques, measurement, and small appliance recipes will be explored each week. Learn how to make simple recipes to impress your friends and family...and take home your own recipe book! *Note: we will be handling and consuming different types of foods each week so please notify us if your student has any food allergies before beginning this class.
...Explore the Prehistoric Worlds: Students will discover and explore dinosaurs at their age-appropriate level; dig deep into their world and discover all of their amazing characteristics
...Mad Scientist: Get your lab coat and get reday to discover all the fun things you can do with science...become a mad scientist and do exciting experiments, discover cool things about nature and science, build rockets and gooey slime, and discover electricity.
...Scrapbooking: Each week students will focus on a different type of scrapbooking design using their own photos. Focus will include: Pastel vs. Earthtones, Color Triads, Neon Accents, Warm and Cool, Texture, Quatrads, Complimentary Colors, and Composition/Presentation.
...Globetrotters: Grab your "passport", pack your mind suitcase, and travel around the world with us in 4 days! We will explore a different country each day through geography, culture, art and craft projects, animal and plant life, talk about items made in that country and even learn about the local cuisine (some food sampling may be involved so please let us know about any food allergies).
Storytelling and Making Storybooks: Age-appropriate books will be read aloud and students will participate in hands-on activities that make the books "come alive". Students will be able to act out certain books and help write their own story to create a class storybook.
...Ethnic Explorations/Ancient Cultures: Look at various cultures from around the world. Explore their traditions, food, dress and how their everyday life varies from ours. An occassional native from the country of study may be available (in person or via video web conference) for added investigations.
...Math Magic: Students will explore different mathematical concepts and how they relate to the world around them - art, music, patterns in nature, and things they see in everyday life. Explore topics such as geometric patterns, optical illusions, perspective, and the golden rectangle.
...Explore: The Wild World: This course focuses on exploring everything about animals - everything from classification to classes to characterstics to where they come from (regions) and why they are important to us! Topics will also include (for older age groups) looking at different ecosystems and how they relate to the animals. Come take a "safari" with us to explore our Wild World
...Mythology: Students will explore Greek, Celtic, British, Norse, Native American, and Asian myths; creative writing exercises, group activities, and reading will be implemented to help students understand mythology
Our Tiny Tots Enrichment program (9:00 - 12:00 Monday - Thursday) is designed to allow younger students to engage in exciting activities that help to build a foundation for a love of learning through arts and academic enrichment. Each day a student will rotate through two/three of our core areas: performing arts, visual arts, and activity/fitness along with activities in academic enrichment. Curriculum will rotate throughout each week (based on enrollment) to allow all registered students the opportunity to explore classes in each area by the end of each session. Small class sizes allow students to interact with others while learning at their own pace. Class offerings will vary each session to keep students engaged in learning and fun and will include course such as:

Enrichment activities will focus on helping students to develop basic motor skills, coordination,
verbal skills (with introduction to foreign languages) and social skills through an interdisciplinary approach. Curriculum will also include basic reading and writing skill development activities.
Tiny Tots Afternoon Activity Program: allows your student to extend their day of learning; content will be theme-based and presented in various core areas each day (performing arts, visual arts, activity/fitness, and academic enrichment).
*Our program allows for flexibility in your schedule as you register only for days you wish to have your child attend - and you only have to commit to one month at a time. You are able to pick and choose what days and times work best for your family.
Adult Series
...Drawing: Learn to use pencils and charcoal to create line, texture, and value. Understand and apply the basic elements of art and design to create your own drawings.
...Beginning/Intermediate Adult Dance Combo: We will explore basic ballet and jazz technique throughout this course. Each class will include learning proper warm up techniques, basic dance terminology, center work with basic ballet and jazz steps/body directions, and movements across the floor. ...Jazz/Hip Hop: Join us for this fast-paced class that will explore the world of jazz and hip-hop dance; no experience is necessary...just an open mind and willingness to be challenged and have FUN!
...Adult Ballet: This class is designed for adults who either had taken ballet years ago (and haven't kept up) or have never taken it but always wanted to. Emphasis on graceful movements to beautiful music that would give you a break from everyday life, or the same old workouts at the gym!

...Introduction to Computers: Let us help you discover the basic processing capacity of most PC's; topics will include word processing, spreadsheets, internet browsing, as well as basic upkeep and troubleshooting. Class enrollment is limited due to availability of computers - feel free to bring your own laptop if you have one!
...Graphic Design: Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of graphic design; some basic computer knowledge is helpful!

Activity and Fitness Series
Health and well-being will be enhanced by registering for an activity/fitness class. The classes will encourage the physical development our students along with guiding them in making healthy life-long choices. Classes will benefit students by encouraging the development of motor skills, hand-eye coordination, cardiovascular fitness and strength, flexibility, and self-esteem through group activities/non-competitive activities. Classes include:
...Movement Studies: Enjoy a slower paced class that allows for a balance of strengthening and stretching; basic yoga, pilates, and/or weight techniques may be used to stimulate and encourage the body to work to its fullest potential (and help reduce risk of injury).
...Sports Skills and Drills: Focus on age-appropriate sports skill development will give students a continuous circuit of fun. A new sport will be featured each week and will include skills to help kids improve at sports such as soccer, basketball, skiing, T-ball, etc.
...Kids Yoga: This class will introduce students to the wonderful world of yoga - in bringing the body, mind, and spirit together as you exercise your body. Students will be encouraged to build their concentration skills as well as physical and mental strength, flexibility, and relaxation.
...Fun and Fit: Students will get they exercise they need to grow healthy, strong and fit, all while having an exciting time in a non-competitive and social environment. Each class will focus on different skills to help build muscle and cardiovascular fitness and strength and flexibility.
...Power Hour: This is a fitness class for kids who don't like to do the same thing all the time. Cross-training techniques will be used to keep the students moving and having a fantastic time and have fun.
...Kids Kardio: Non-stop action will help develop a strong and healthy body....we will play games, run relays, use balls and stretch our way to a being physically fit.
...Losing Your Marbles: Students will use marble games to expand their dexterity and locomotor skills along with learning other fun games to play outside, inside, and upside down!
